Media filters are equipment widely used in water treatment. Their main function is to remove suspended matter, impurities, and harmful substances from water through a combination of various filter media, thereby improving water quality.

Filter Media Types

According to different classification standards, our media filters can be divided into the following types:

1) Classification by media type:
Single media filter: only one filter material, such as a quartz sand filter, is used.
Multi-layer media filter: two or more different filter materials are arranged in layers, such as a combination of anthracite upper layer and quartz sand lower layer.

2) Classification by filter material combination:
Anthracite-quartz sand-magnetite filter: suitable for removing suspended matter and heavy metal ions.
Activated carbon-quartz sand-magnetite filter: mainly used to remove organic matter, color, and odor.
Activated carbon-quartz sand filter: particularly suitable for removing organic pollutants and color.
Quartz sand-ceramic filter: used to improve filtration accuracy and remove tiny particles.

Selecting the right media filter requires consideration of factors such as water quality, treatment requirements, and cost-effectiveness. For example, in textile wastewater, an activated carbon-quartz sand combination may be used, while in industrial high-temperature boiler water pretreatment, a quartz sand-softening resin combination may be selected.
